 ALEXANDER, LEWIS M., Ph.D, 91, of Peace Dale, died May 9. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline (Peterson) Andrews, for 63 years. Born in Summit, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Harry L., MD and Laura (Stryker) Alexander. Dr. Alexander received his BA degree from Middlebury College in Vermont and then received his Ph. D from Clark University in 1941. After his schooling, he enlisted in the US Army during WW II. He served with the Air Forces for four years, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. Dr. Alexander started his teaching career at the State University of New York, Binghamton and then came to the University of Rhode Island. He was a Professor of Geography and Marine Affairs. During his tenure at URI he was a geologist for the US State Department during the Ronald Reagan Presidency. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and is credited with publishing many books and articles related to marine affairs. Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Louise Anne Chebert of Lake Stevens, WA and Lance Stryker Alexander of Wakefield; four grandchildren, Daine, Drew, Emily and Sarah; a sister, Beverly G. Alexander of Cape Cod; and a half-sister, Janet Wood of Charlestown. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  ALLEN, CAROL L. (MORRIS) 58 of Johnston, passed away on May 20, 2013 at Roger Williams Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Thomas L. Allen. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late David and Theresa (McLinden) Morris. Before her illness, she was a dispatcher with Yellow Cab Company for over fifteen years. She was a loving and caring person who was devoted to her family. She was the loving mother of Thomas L. Allen, Jr., David J., Crystal L., Maelee L. Allen and Tammy L. Walker. Sister of David, James, Thomas, Edward, William and Lorie Morris, Theresa Cromwell and Donna Parsons. She was also the grandmother of 13.  ARSENAULT, MARK STEVEN 57, passed peacefully at home on May 16, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Edmund J. and Doris (Champagne) Arsenault and leaves Lois (Montanaro) Arsenault, his late father's wife. Marks family would like to express their appreciation to Ralph Fleming and family of Carla Corp. of East Providence, where he was their lead toolmaker, for the love and kindness they have shown to Mark; they were truly his second family for the past 20 years. Mark was the beloved brother of Robert and his wife Mea, Janice and her husband, Jun Santa Cruz, Jean, Denis, Alan and his wife Dottie Arsenault, Judy Thalmann, Keith and his wife, Kara Arsenault.  CALCAGNI, LENA (ZOMPA) 96, of Moorefield Street, Providence passed away May 21, 2013. She was the wife of the late C. John Calcagni. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Enrico and Margherita (Ciccerone) Zompa. Lena was a seamstress for Natco of West Warwick for many years before retiring. She was also a communicant of St. Bartholomew Church and a member of the Ladies Guild. Mostly, she took great joy in her nieces and nephews. She was the sister of Rita D'Arezzo and aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Peter Zompa, Lisa DePetrillo, Mary Carlson and Angie Nardone. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Mezzini) Venditto. She had lived in Providence before moving to Smithfield. She was the loving and caring mother of her children: Ronald Cardone and his wife, Margaret of Burrillville, Kenneth Cardone and Jennifer Tanguay of Brunswick, ME, Lois Villano of Smithfield and Lori DeFusco and her husband Stephen of Johnston, the cherished grandmother of her grandchildren: Ronald Jr., Kevin, Kyle and Nicholas Cardone, Stephen, Joseph and Gina DeFusco. She is also survived by her sisters, Celia Perotti and Joan Razza both of Johnston.
