McVay, Kenneth Alton - Bristol  
McVAY, KENNETH ALTON Early on May 17th, Kenneth Alton McVay passed peacefully at home. Ken loved his family, the Marine Corps, and sailing, but mostly he loved Ruth, his devoted wife of 64 years. Born in Providence, he grew up in Cranston, the son of Howard Wesley McVay and Marjorie (Jellison) McVay. The youngest of four brothers, he was predeceased by Ernest and George, and is survived by Howard. He graduated from Cranston High and enlisted in the US Marine Corps at the age of 17. The Marines sent him to Korea, where he survived the Battle of Chosin Reservoir and the Inchon Landing, and spent two tours in Vietnam. He retired after 30 years as Lt. Col., the recipient of a bronze star and two purple hearts. Ken was one of the few Marines to work his way through all the ranks, from Private through to Sergeant Major, selection as an officer, and through the ranks again to Lt. Col. He and Ruth retired to Bristol, R.I., where he attended Rhode Island College studying, and then teaching, Industrial Technology. During the summers he and Ruth ran a live aboard sailing school, on their boat Pizzazz. In 1994, he retired again, cruising the world with Ruth on 56 different cruises. He was a volunteer docent at Herreshoff Museum, and was active in the Barrington United Methodist Church. He leaves behind his loving wife Ruth, a daughter, Marilyn (McVay) Mathison, and two sons, Michael Kenneth McVay and Mark Howard McVay, a son-in-law Scott and daughter-in-law Debbie, and grandchildren Allison (McVay) Aguilar and her husband Marc, Lindsey McVay, Lydea Irwin, Marcel McVay, and Maxwell McVay, and great-grandchildren Elijah, Abigail, and Andrew Aguilar. His service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 8:30 AM from the WILBUR-ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main St, Warren with a funeral service at 10AM in Barrington United Methodist Church, 230 Washington Rd, Barrington, RI 02806. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, South County Trail, Exeter. Visitation, Sunday 3 - 6 PM. Medeiros, Emily - Seekonk  
MEDEIROS, EMILY H. 94, passed away Thursday May 19, 2016 at the Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Seekonk, Massachusetts she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Flora (Silva) Medeiros. Miss. Medeiros was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was a member of the women's Guild and church choir and was also a recipient of the Marian Medal. After graduating from East Providence High School, she worked for several companies as an office assistant until her longest tenure at Brown University where she worked under Dean Hale for 20 years. She retired at the age of 70, and went on to work and volunteer at the church. Most important to Emily were her family, friends, the church and her home. She lived a life of simplicity and enjoyed every moment of it. She leaves six nieces, Christine Stewart, Linda Cruise, Cheryl Desmarais, Barbara McCarthy, Joyce Leven and Lisa Letourneau, two nephews, John Mello and John Medeiros. She was the sister of the late Mary Zinni, Virginia Mello, Angela and John Medeiros. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Taunton Avenue, Seekonk. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket. Per Emily's request calling hours are respectfully omitted.

Meehan, Kathleen - East Providence  
MEEHAN, KATHLEEN, (McSOLEY), 57, of Riverside Drive, Riverside Terrace, died unexpectedly on Sunday May 22, 2016. She was the lifelong companion of Paul M. Meehan of Riverside. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Frances I. (Deignan) McSoley, she lived in Riverside for 35 years previously residing in Rumford. Monahan, Thomas - Narragansett  
MONAHAN, THOMAS ANTHONY JR. 75, of Narragansett, died Thursday, May 19, 2016. He was the husband of Ruth (Laramee) Monahan. Tom grew up in Providence, a son of the late Thomas Anthony and Helen Regan Monahan where he attended La Salle Academy and Providence College, graduating in 1962. He worked for Providence Body Company, Wellington Avenue, Cranston, a family operated business founded in 1875. He also worked for Budlong Manufacturing Company, Cranston, RI. In 2005 after 16 years of dedicated service, Tom retired from MetLife. Away from his work, Tom spent his time boating and fishing with friends and family. He was the devoted father of Elizabeth Monahan Carley of East Greenwich and Thomas A. Monahan, III of Hermosa Beach, CA. Tom's grandsons, T.J. Carley and Patrick Carley were the joy of his life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 23, 2016 at 10:00 am in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St., Narragansett to which relatives and friends are invited. MURRAY, JOAN ANN (SULLIVAN) 83, a lifelong resident of Providence, Rhode Island passed away May 17th 2016 surrounded by her loving family at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry F. Murray, Jr. Born in Providence on October 22, 1932 daughter of the late Thomas and Cecelia (Glynn) Sullivan. She is survived by her loving son Michael T. Murray and his wife Martha (Toole) of Warwick. A sister Maureen C. Farrelly and the late Kathryn T. Sullivan. Ever devoted to her Catholic faith Joan Ann was a 1950 graduate of St. Xavier Academy. Her pride and joy were her two grandsons Michael T. Murray Jr. and his fiancé Gillian Coyne and Philip T Murray. Loving aunt of Colleen M. McCarthy, Thomas F. Farrelly Jr. and Maureen C. Pagliaro and many nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 9 am in Saint Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence, RI to which relatives and friends are invited.
