Serdjenian, Mihran - East Greenwich  
SERDJENIAN, MIHRAN "MIKE" 88, of East Greenwich, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Greenwood Nursing Home in Warwick. He was the beloved husband of the late Betty (Moan) Serdjenian. Born in East Providence, he was the son of the late Michael Dickran and Nevart (Dakesian) Serdjenian. Mike was co-owner of the former Fairdeal Manufacturing of Providence, a jewelry manufacturing company that was founded by his father in 1935. He was a WW-II U.S. Navy veteran; member of Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church of Providence; the Knights of Vartan; Potowomut Country Club; and Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, FL. He was the step-father of Carolyn G. Cherry and her husband Frank of East Greenwich and the late Daniel Stanton and his wife Janet Stanton of Woodstock Valley, CT; dear brother of Richard M. Serdjenian of North Kingstown and Hermine "Helen" Mahtesian of Boynton Beach, FL; loving grandfather and great-grandfather; and loving uncle of several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Thursday, May 7th at 12 noon in Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 70 Jefferson St., Providence. Swanson, Hazel - Coventry  
SWANSON, HAZEL P. 86, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Alpine Nursing Home. Born in West Warwick, a daughter of the late Carl and Signe W. (Johnson) Swanson, she lived in California for most of her adult life and had lived in North Attleboro, MA before moving to Coventry in 2011. Hazel worked as a secretary for many years, employed by the Heinz Company in Long Beach, CA. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in West Warwick and a member of the church choir. Hazel was an accomplished singer for most of her life and had a great passion for singing beautiful music. She was the sister of the late Ruth Livingston, Herbert Swanson, Marion Tashjian, Helen M. Robinson and Mildred Swanson. She was the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8 at 5:00 PM at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 9 New London Avenue, West Warwick. Interment in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown will be private. Sweet, Ruth - South Kingstown  
SWEET, RUTH W. (DOANE) 80 of South Kingstown died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at home. She was the wife of Charles A. Sweet and daughter of the late Warren B. and Dorothea M. (Mullaney) Doane. She was born in Providence on February 6, 1935 and moved with her family to Narragansett during 1940 and South Kingstown in 1956. Ruth and her husband celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on April 2nd. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Debra E. (Sweet) Perretta and husband David E., Gregory Sweet and wife Linda, Lisa Sweet and mate Vicki Pillsbury, David Sweet, and Kateri (Sweet) Wheeler; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. After having five children, Ruth returned to college and received her Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Mount St. Joseph College in June of 1976. She taught severely intellectually challenged children in the South Kingstown School until retiring in 1988. She also graduated from the Master Gardening program at U.R.I. and was known for her flower gardens around her home in Wakefield. She enjoyed cooking, reading, rug hooking, gardening, traveling and being with her family. Most precious to Ruth, in addition to her faith in God and her religion were her family and friends. Ruth always gave more than she took...us ually much more. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Church in Wakefield on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Teeven, Louise - East Greenwich  
TEEVEN, LOUISE GOODWIN, of Eagle's Nest, died on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Paul Lane Teeven. They were married for 56 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Levine) Goodwin. A graduate of Blessed Sacrament School and Saint Patrick's High School, she had worked at the Providence Journal Co. in the Treasurer's Office. Louise loved her home and family, that was the focus of her life. She spent many hours volunteering for various schools and parishes over the years and was a communicant of Saint Gregory the Great Church. She is survived by two sons, Gerard P. Teeven and his wife, Judy K., of Naples, FL and David J. Teeven and his wife, Leah, of Melrose, MA; three daughters, Patricia L. Maida and her husband, Michael, of Hockessin, DE, Judy A. Teeven, of Southold, NY and Barbara T. Wilklow and her husband, Michael, of Raleigh, NC; and five beloved grandchildren, Casey, Alison, Kristen, Matthew and Lindsay. Louise is also survived by a brother, Alfred E. Goodwin, of Little Compton and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Margaret, Norman, Raymond J., John A., and Francis X. Goodwin, Elizabeth Goodwin Lane and Norma Maloney Dexter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10:00 am, in Saint Gregory the Great Church, 350 Cowesett Road, Warwick, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited. Interment will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, hospice nurses and aides who offered guidance and support with such dignified care and respect during the past several months. Tutooian, Diana - Pawtucket  
TUTOOIAN, DIANA A. 91, of Providence and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Krikor and Flora (Kezerian) Tutooian. Diana was a legal secretary and bookkeeper for Higgins and Slagherty for 42 years before retiring. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Harootunian, and two nephews, Richard Harootunian and his wife Deborah, and Donald Harootunian and his wife Lisa. She also leaves a grand nephew, Jared Harootunian and two grand nieces, Nicole and Lauren Harootunian. Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9am from the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Funeral Service at 11am in Sts Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence. VAN AMERSFOORT, GEORGE L. 90, of Narragansett, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 at South County Hospital in Wakefield. He was the beloved husband for 15 years of Joan (Moore) Van Amersfoort and the late Lillian B. (Montella) Van Amersfoort. Born in Pasadena, CA, he was the son of the late John and Julieanna (Link) Van Amersfoort. George graduated from Pasadena Junior College before entering the Navy serving during WW-II, Korean War and Vietnam, retiring after 22 years as Chief Petty Officer. He then worked for EG & G Sealol as Director of Operations in their Industrial Division. He enjoyed golf, gardening and fishing. He was the past president of Quonset Davisville Fleet Reserve Branch 42 and was a longtime member of Quonset Davisville Navy Yacht Club. Besides his wife Joan, he was the devoted father of Peter Van Amersfoort of Coventry, David "Bud" Van Amersfoort and his wife Betsy of Exeter and the late John Van Amersfoort; step-father of Eric Little and his wife Katheryn of South Kingstown; loving grand-father of seven; loving great-grandfather of two; and dear brother of the late Marie Hull and John, Egbert and Anton Van Amersfoort. WINSOR, BARBARA A. (EDDY) 89, of Johnston, died Friday, May 1, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Ralph S. Winsor. Born in Newport, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Annie L. (Gibson) Eddy. She graduated from Pembroke College, Brown University in 1945. Before marrying, she worked for the Shepard's Department Store. She raised six children while her husband ran the family business, S.B. Winsor Dairy. After her husband retired, she joined him in opening and operating Winsor's Ice Cream. She leaves six children, Jane Goudailler (William), James Winsor (Paula), Deborah Winsor (Doug Seel), Ruth Whatmough (James), Nancy Cucino (Dick), Martha Asermely (Jeffrey), as well as 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. ACETO, HENRY "HANK" C. 83, passed away on April 25, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Jane (Fournier) Aceto and son of the late Henry E. and Rose (Olean) Aceto. Hank was a Navy veteran of the Korean era. He had worked for M.A. Gammino Construction Company for many years. A member of the Laborers International Union, local # 271, Hank earned his fifty year Gold Card Medal before his retirement. Hank was an avid N.Y. Yankees and N.Y. Giants fan. He enjoyed bowling and golf. Hank loved to travel with his wife and found great joy surrounded by his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Diane (Gary) DiOrio and Dawn (Jim) Fuoroli, two sons, Richard (Jennifer) and Stephen (Gina) Aceto, two sisters, Lillian Evans and Arlene Aceto, a brother, Robert (Beverly) Aceto, ten grandchildren, Nicholas (Kristiina) and Daniel (Mara) DiOrio, Jimmy and Marissa Fuoroli, and Jamie, Samantha, Michael and Madison Aceto, and four great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 PM 8 PM, in the A.A. Mariani and Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence. ADAMS, DOROTHEA M. "DOTTIE" M. (MASON) 89, of Seekonk, MA died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Bethany Home, Providence. She was the wife of the late James I. Adams. Born in Fort Fairfield, ME, a daughter of the late Norman and Dora (Grass) Mason, she had lived in Seekonk for the past 68 years. Mrs. Adams was employed in the admissions office at Butler Hospital, Providence for over 20 years before retiring. She was a member of Newman Congregational Church, Rumford and a former member of Wannamoisett Country Club and the Rumford Junior Women's Club, both of Rumford. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Lee Whittemore of Stuart, FL and Elizabeth A. Hutchinson of Harrisville; and several nieces and nephews.
