Dearest Gay and family,

Our thoughts, prayers and sympathy are with you all upon learning of Dick's passing. He lived a long and happy life and we shall miss him very much.

He was so proud of his Naval service and rightly so. We loved to listen to his stories and thought of him as a true patriot. His involvement in the Naval War College Foundation sets him apart from all others. He was a true "plank owner" and always had good advice and rendered his services with true dedication.

His leadership and involvement in community activities only further cemented his commitment to others, driven by his upstanding character.

We personally experienced his ready smile, always, his friendliness and his knowledge of so many things. You both were so hospitable to us and we enjoyed so many evenings in your lovely home.

May the Lord's peace surround you at this difficult time and strengthen you in this period of great need. We admire you both and always will. We never knew a happier grandfather!

Our love and friendship always,

Barbara and Joe
