My condolences to Joe's family. He was a great man who taught me to dance. I'm saddened to hear he is gone, but I just know heaven is two-stepping and rejoicing together now that Joe is there. Joe, thanks for teaching me two step. Love Always, Renee

Mary Lou and entire Macera family - Papa Joe will be sadly missed. He was the most amazing man, father, friend and dancer. He truly loved dancing with all of us at the Diamond Rodeo...the place just won't be the same without him. Every time that we hear a two-step being played...we will shed a few tears. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family. We look forward to seeing you Mary Lou at our favorite restaurant.... Love Jennifer Goff and Jim Fraser

In the 1930’s Joe and I were childhood friends attending Saint Paul’s School together. Joe was the envy of Edgewood having the biggest coop and largest collection of homing pigeons. Together we rode horses along the path throughout the neighboring Roger Williams Park. We rented them from a stable across from the park where Joe worked as a young teenage groomer. In the summer of 1966, Joe a skilled craftsman completely gutted and remodeled our kitchen. He personally designed and custom built its new cabinets. During this construction period Joe allowed my family to vacation at his summer home in Jamestown. Joe’s father lived nearby on the island often sharing the bountiful produce from his extensive vegetable garden. Joe will be missed.
