Hilda B. (Pimental) Gleavey

age 93, formerly of Pierce Avenue, Warwick, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Bayberry Commons in Pascoag. She was the wife of the late John Mendes and the late John F. Gleavey.
Born in West Warwick, a daughter of the late Joseph and Georginnia (Costa) Pimental, she lived in Warwick for most of her life. She also lived in New Port Richey, Florida from 1987-1996.
Mrs. Gleavey was employed at Leviton Manufacturing in Warwick for 29 years, retiring in 1987. She later served as a lunch aide at Norwood School in Warwick for 9 years, and was honored on her 80th birthday with a citation from Mayor Scott Avedisian proclaiming "Hilda Gleavey Day" in the City of Warwick.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice St. Jean and her husband David, of Charlestown; a brother, Manuel Pimental of Coventry; a granddaughter, Carrie Demoranville of Chepachet; and two great-grandchildren, Aubree and Chase. She was the sister of the late Mary Bertrand, Ethelvina Volpe, Joseph Pimental, Daniel Pimental, and John Pimental.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, September 13, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the , RI Chapter, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
