Joyce Travis

TRAVIS, JOYCE M. (TUBMAN), 84, of Providence, passed away on Thursday at Elmhurst Extended Care after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Paul J. Travis. Born in Taunton, MA, a daughter of the late Benjamin S. and Susan (Abbott) Tubman, she had lived in Providence for most of her life. She is survived by a son, James T. Travis and his wife Sharon of North Providence, and a daughter, Paula J. Gadouas and her husband Ronald of Manchester, NH; three grandchildren, Melissa A. Travis, Danielle N. Gadouas and Alexandra N. Gadouas; two brothers, Donald Tubman of NY, and Neil Tubman and his wife Jean of Greenville, RI. She was the sister of the late Ruth Dittfach, George Tubman, Esther Albro, Eleanor Schofield and Philip Tubman. Joyce was a loving and caring woman who cherished her family, especially her children Jim and Paula and her grandchildren, Melissa, Danielle and Allie. Her funeral and visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 8:00 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St. Providence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 179 Academy Ave, Providence. Graveside interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
