Harry Asquith Obituary

ASQUITH, HARRY W. JR. ESQ., 60, of East Providence passed away peacefully and lovingly on May 22, 2013 in the arms of his adoring family and surrounded by true friends. He was the beloved husband of Patricia K. Asquith, Associate Justice designee of RI Family Court. Born in Providence and raised in Lincoln by his parents the late Harry and Lois Asquith. Harry was a respected and skilled attorney who along with his dear friend, John Mahoney formed the law firm of Asquith & Mahoney; LLP in Providence where they worked side by side for many years. Harry was an incredibly selfless man. He belonged to several professional, community and civic minded organizations too numerous to name. He donated countless hours of his time to the service of others. His greatest satisfaction came from his many years of coaching each of his four daughters, who played youth soccer for East Providence AYSO. Harry was a Probate Judge for the town of Lincoln. He also served as the East Providence Municipal Judge. He was a long time member of Wannamoisett Country Club sitting as a board member for several years eventually becoming the President of the Board. Harry had a deep love and devotion to the Wannamoisett community and was truly proud to be part of its membership. Harry gave so much, in so many ways for so many years to all of those who had the good fortune to be touched by him. Besides his wife, Harry leaves a strong legacy in his four cherished daughters, Lily, Michaela, Grace and Kaycee. His girls were his joy. Harry is also survived by his two sisters, Roberta Hunt of North Attleboro and Laurie Asquith of Lincoln. As well as his best friend and "brother" Bob Mega of Rehoboth, Mass. Calling hours, Monday 3-8 PM in the A.A. MARIANI and Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St. Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to a service on Tuesday at 10 AM in the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, Cathedral Square in Providence. Burial in Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harry's name to: Pancreatic Cancer Action Network c/o Michael Burke, 71 Hoyt Ave Rumford RI, 02916.

Harry gave me strength through his calm and direct manner. Just knowing he would be there was enough. As my lawyer, since he entered practice,I always joked that I would hope not to see him soon.
Sometimes life is just not fair.
My blessings and prayers to ALL Harry's family and friends.

Dear Asquith Family,

I am deeply sorry to hear of Harry's passing. I met him while coaching many years against him in soccer. What a great guy and an awesome coach. He embodied what a coach for kids should be. We met again while our daughters were at Bay View. I enjoyed "standing" and talkiing with Harry during either a soccer or lacrosse game. What an awesome guy and I am absolutely positive a great dad and husband. His passing is a great loss not only to his family but to the many "kids" and people whos lives he touched. He will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences. Just a great human being.

It has been many years since I first met you and Harry when we lived in the same apartment building on Tollgate Road, probably when you first got married. ToThe family of Harry,
Harry was a professor of mine at Roger Williams College back around 1979-1980 and I had the most respect for him he was a fair and fun teacher . We used to joke that he was like one of us college kids back then because he looked so young to be a professor. I had not run into Harry again until I saw him at a bay view musical and we shared stories of what it was like to have daughters I have 3 grown daughters that went to Bay View . My thoughts and prayers go out to his daughters and wife during this sad time.
