Harry Walsh Obituary

WALSH, HARRY A., JR, 78 died on March 12, 2015 at South County Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Donna (Pugliese) Walsh. Married for 53 years dying two days before their 54th anniversary. Born in New Jersey on May 4, 1936 he was the son of the late Harry and Mary (Kelly) Walsh. Henry graduated from Hun School in New Jersey and Rutgers University in 1958. Mr. Walsh served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1958 until 1961. He later worked for Connecticut General Life Insurance and has a Marketing Representative for McGraw Hill Publishing Co. until his retirement. An avid outdoorsman he along with his beautiful black lab Hanna, he roamed the fields hunting ducks, pheasants and deer. Fishing both fresh and saltwater was his greatest passion. Landing a 62lb striped bass from surf, he enjoyed fishing for Atlantic salmon in Quebec spending July and part of August there. Elected to the Chariho School Committee in the mid 1980's where he served as chair of the building committee. He served as Town Sergeant in the 1990's and was elected Town Moderator for 24 years where he capably presided over financial meeting. He was a member of the American Society of Parliamentarians and the Charlestown Democratic Town Committee. Besides his wife he will be sadly missed by his son Henry and daughter-in-law Dawn and his granddaughter Amanda and her husband Kelven Farnham and great granddaughter; Maura. He was the brother of Joe Walsh and his wife Jean and Mauren Schuster, and he was preceased by 2 brothers Robert and Edward Walsh. The Walsh family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday from 4-8PM at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. Hope Valley, RI. Funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in White Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island South Team, 143 Main St. Wakefield, RI 02879.
