Judith C. Marak Obituary
MARAK, JUDITH C.
87, of Wakefield died on June 7th. Judy was born in New York City and grew up in Connecticut and New Jersey. Upon graduating from high school in Fairfield, she married Robert Marak and they moved from Connecticut to Falmouth, Mass. where their children, Debbie, Dick, Valerie, and Philip were brought up. Judy eagerly accepted moves to Juneau and Rome because of Bob's work. While in Juneau, she regularly baked bread and continued her interest in the theater with the local drama group, a continuation of her and Bob's hard work with the Falmouth Theater Guild. Judy also worked outside the home at Elsie's Sandwich Shop, a popular former Falmouth eatery. Her year in Rome gave her the opportunity to pursue Italian language, cooking, and culture while making lasting friendships with people from around the world. In 1972, Judy settled in Rhode Island, where she soon became involved in the General Federation of Women's Clubs, served a term as the state president, one and a half terms as local president, and received their first-ever Club Woman of the Year Award. She had also been a volunteer at South County Hospital and became an ardent supporter of the Exeter Library both before and after it existed.
Debbie and John, Dick and Cathy, Valerie and Tony, and Philip and Karen will all greatly miss her fantastic cooking and elaborate meals. Judy and Bob played a supporting role in the childhoods of their grandchildren, Jennifer Langbehn and Andrew Dohrmann, and in recent years Judy welcomed two great-grandsons, Connor and Brendan Langbehn.
A memorial service is planned at a later date. For full obituary and condolences, averystortifuneralhome.com.
