My condolences to the family and countless friends of Susan who will miss her warm, inspired presence.

She was a trailblazer, determined and undaunted by challenges that turned others back with apprehension. Susan was a get-it-done person, no matter the nay sayers who predicted otherwise.

She often sat in high places yet, never felt above others. Susie was always down to earth to people she met. She loved Rhode Island and Susan made it's heart bigger, more inclusive.

She will be missed for her passion, her humanitarian values and her tireless generosity.

We have lost a sister and champion for Rhode Islanders, young and old, rich and poor, big city or small townie. Because Susan cared about us. It was a formula that inspired her many accomplishments.

In peace, her spirit is now at rest.

My condolences to all Susan's loved ones'
In the eighty's I was just another guy pumping gasoline at a east side station.
Early one morning Susan came in with curlers in her hair and asked me how she looked and I replied, just fine.
She said thanks for lying and we laughed.
Such a pleasant Woman.
She met my soon to be Wife and later Susan told me that she was a very nice and pretty girl.
My Wife and I have followed her career and it was such a great one.
So sad to hear of her passing on and we will surly miss Susan.
Matt and Paulette.

in 1982, i ran for the house seat(e. side-fox point-dist. 2. one day, susie and all of the candidates met at the dexter manor to campaign. we had a record number of females(all republican) on the ticket. barbara leonard for u.s. senate, lila sapinsley for lt. gov., susie for sec'y of state, arlene violet for a.g., and claudine schneider for u.s. rep. no party, in any state before or since, has had so many women running together, and all but barbara won. we made history. the r.i. republican party unfortunately lost that momentum and never regained it. susie was a star, and i should like to offer my condolences; so sorry for your loss.

Heidi and Stephanie:
I have such fun memories of your mom from years ago. I know she did great things for RI and for women and, frankly, for our country, but I also remember her because she was so much fun to be around. She had such pizzazz. She would pop in and join us in the "old days" in Providence, San Francisco, or wherever....
Please know that both of you, and your dad, are in my thoughts and prayers....
