McCABE, FRANCIS P. 81, of Seekonk, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014. He was the husband of Audrey (Freebarin) McCabe. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Mary K. (Regan). He lived in Pawtucket for most of his life before moving to Seekonk 5 years ago. Francis graduated from St. Raphael Academy with honors in 1949 at the age of 16. He was a Sergeant in the Army Combat Infantry 45th Division in the Korean War. He received the Army's highest combat award, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation, and he earned the title of Combat Patrol Leader. He had 2 campaign ribbons and 2 battle stars. After the Army, he was employed in the textile industry working at Lawson Products in Pawtucket for 30 years and Arbeka Webbing in Pawtucket for 10 years. He was a member of St. Leo the Great Church for 55 years. Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Thomas McCabe and his wife Tina, Karen Macartney and her husband Joseph, a brother, Joseph McCabe and his wife Carol, a grandson, Steven Parris, 2 granddaughters, Stacey Parris and her fiancé Matthew Rubel, and Tara McCabe, a great granddaughter, Kaelyn Rubel, and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Maureen Mahan. His funeral will be held Friday at 9 am from the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at10am in Saint Leo the Great Church of Blessed Pope John Paul II Parish, 697 Central Ave, Pawtucket. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
