William Priestley Obituary
PRIESTLEY, WILLIAM H., 43, of Nine Knollwood Avenue, died April 8, 2011 at Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, his beloved wife of twelve years, Kinda Remick Priestley, by his side. Born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph A. and Beverly M. Priestley, he grew up in Barrington and Westerly. Bill was a 1986 graduate of St. Paul's School, Concord, NH, with honors in music, a 1990 cum laude graduate of Colby College, Waterville, ME, with honors in Philosophy and Religion, and a 1995 cum laude graduate of Boston University School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Annual Review of Banking Law from 1994 to 1995. He joined Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP in Providence in 1999, where he worked in the Litigation Management Department. He was admitted to the Rhode Island and Massachusetts Bars and was a member of both state Bar Associations. He indulged his love of the outdoors as a member of the Colby Woodsmen's Team and Outing Club, on the golf course, and on the ski slopes. A recreational singer/songwriter and enthusiastic mentor for Rhode Islanders Sponsoring Education, he made friends easily and plentifully as a child, student, colleague, and neighbor and treasured them always. More than anything, Bill loved and cherished his wife Kinda and their four children, Georgia, 7, twins Harry and Owen, 5, and Emma Remick Priestley, 20 months, all of whom will miss him dearly. He also will be greatly missed by his brother Joseph A. Priestley, Jr., and sister Carole A. Priestley, both of East Greenwich, and sister and brother-in-law, Pamela Priestley O'Connor and James F. O'Connor, Jr. of Wakefield. He was a treasured uncle and mentor to seven nieces and nephews Pamela B., Joseph A., III, and Samuel L. Priestley; Andrew M. and Matthew P. Johnson; and James F., III and Courtney B. O'Connor. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:00 am in the East Greenwich United Methodist Church, 1558 South County Trail. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, East Greenwich. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95).
