Spencer Pitts Obituary
PITTS, SPENCER GLADDING 23, of Greenwich, CT, died suddenly on April 15 in Charleston, SC. Born on August 20, 1988 in Providence, RI, Spencer was nearing graduation from the College of Charleston. He was the son of Pamela Crompton Caffray of Greenwich and John Dorsey Pitts, Jr of New York City. Spencer was a notoriously inquisitive young man who developed learned appreciations of music, wine, cheese, professional sports, history and literature, and, notably, pugs. He was an avid skier, golfer and tennis player. Above all, Spencer was loved by his family members and his many friends of all ages for his gentle disposition and kindness and for a fine mind tempered by modesty and wit. In addition to his parents, Spencer leaves behind a step-mother, Terri Pitts, and a half-sister, Grace. He is survived by grandparents, Bob and Bonnie Caffray, of Vero Beach, FL, Jim and Joan Fee of Manchester, VT, Dr. John D Pitts, now deceased, and Mary Babcock Pitts of Little Compton, RI, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28, at 1 p.m. at the United Congregational Church in Little Compton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund Species Adoption program in Spencer's name.
