Joseph G. Hrobak, 73 of Sheatown, returned to the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 30.
Joe, or "Poppie," was born Dec. 25, 1939, in Newport Township. He was a son of the late Paul and Frances Hrobak of Alden.
Joe was a long-standing member of St. Faustina Parish, formerly The Most Holy Trinity Parish, of Nanticoke.
Joe was a loving husband and hardworking man who loved his family and spent his retirement helping his sons Joey at his garage and Ray with construction projects, traveling with his wife to visit grandchildren and performing countless hours of service in the community.
He spent several years working in the coal mines and was recently honored in a historical video of Northeastern Pennsylvania called "A Coal Miner's Story," created by his youngest daughter, Shannon, and his granddaughter Kaylan.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Sue T. Hrobak (Busch); his brothers, Paul, Leonard and wife Marie and Robert and wife Jean; sister, Patricia Boris and husband Leonard; five devoted children, Mary Theresa (Terri) and husband Tony, Joseph G. Jr. and wife Karen, Raymond P. and fiancee Grace, Sue A. and husband Cary and Shannon E. and husband Keith; grandchildren, Ashlee and her fiance, Eric; Heather, Marvin, William, Nikki, Kaylan, Kristina, Amanda, Evan, Connor, Brandon and Madison.
Joe will be honored by relatives and friends on Saturday at St. Faustina Church, 520 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, from 10 to 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. Please proceed directly to the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be sent to The Nanticoke Food Pantry, St. Faustina Church.
Arrangements are by the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home Inc., 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke.
