Marie H. Morucci, age 81, of Apple St., Glen Lyon, died on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, surrounded by her loving family.

Marie was born in Glen Lyon, on Jan. 20, 1931, a daughter of the late Chester and Caroline (Tushinski) Mack.

She was a lifetime resident of Newport Township, where she was a member of the graduating class of Newport Township High School, class of 1948. She also was a graduate of the Wilkes-Barre Business College. Marie was employed by Leslie Fay as a bookkeeper and also as a seamstress for Sea Isle, Glen Lyon. Together with her husband, Arnie, they owned and operated Duke's Bar in Wanamie and were the stewards of the Italian American Sporting Club, in Glen Lyon.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Neighborhood Crime Watch, all of Glen Lyon. She was a social member of the Italian American Sporting Club, Glen Lyon.

Marie was an avid reader, who also loved jigsaw puzzles, bingo and baking in her earlier years of life. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Arnold, who expired, Dec. 11, 2008, and her brother Gerald Mack, Nov. 13, 2010.

Surviving is a daughter, Karen Kanjorski, and her husband, Paul, Nanticoke; two grandchildren, Kristen and Kendal Kanjorski; brother Chester Mack and his wife, Sheila, Glen Lyon; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 211 West Main St., Glen Lyon. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. from Holy Spirit Parish/St. Adalbert's Church, Glen Lyon. Interment will be in the Italian Independent Cemetery, Glen Lyon. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Mill Memorial Library, 495 E. Main St., Nanticoke, PA 18634 or at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Drs. Stephen Clute and Gerald Maloney and to the staff of Geisinger Wyoming Valley for all their care and compassion extended to Marie and her family at their time of need.
