After 102 long years here on Earth, Mary A. Davis, of Nanticoke, was wrapped in the loving arms of her God and carried home on the evening of March 21, 2013.
She was born Mary Gallagher on May 23, 1910, the first daughter of Margaretta and Charles Gallagher of Warrior Run. She married Arthur Davis of Nanticoke on Aug. 20, 1930, and together they raised three sons and one daughter.
She was a devout member of St. Francis Church, Nanticoke, and was the oldest living member at the closing of its doors. She was the oldest member of the Nanticoke Quoit Club and enjoyed quite a few Friday nights with her many friends there.
Mary will be eagerly greeted in heaven by those who went before her, including her parents; husband, Arthur; brothers, James and Charles Gallagher; sisters, Agnes Tommor and Margaret Meehan; sons, Arthur and Charles Davis; and grandchildren, Jeffery Davis and Sharon Davis Beggs.
Left to carry on her legacy and grieve her loss are son, James Davis, Nanticoke; daughter, Margretta Davis Motisko, Shillington; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She lived her life as a fine example that giving to others has the capacity to make your own life full. Her life's mission was to care for others and she pursued that mission to all ends with a fiery spirit that will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral will be held Monday 9:30 a.m. from Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 173 E. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. from St. Faustina Parish main site. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be Monday in St. Charles Cemetery, Warrior Run.

Mary, You were truly a blessing to our family! I always remember our trips to Sugar Notch were not complete until we made a stop to visit with you. The last time we visited I had Aunt Esther and Aunt Leona with me and we enjoyed out time with you! May your soul rest in peace, and my God comfort the rest of your family on your passing!
