Howard W. Stubblebine

Howard W. "Dee" Stubblebine, age 44, of Larksville, passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit, of Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, after a six-month courageous battle with renal cancer.

Born April 24, 1968, in Tunkhannock, he was a son of Howard Stubblebine Jr. and the late Marie Bogdon Stubblebine.

He attended Wyoming Valley West High School, and was the owner and operator of Stubblebine Construction Company, Larksville.

Throughout his life, Howard was known as an adventure seeker. He greatly enjoyed trying exciting things such as skydiving, riding snowmobiles in Yellowstone and seeing the sites throughout the United States.

Over the years, he loved traveling with his wife, Melissa, to many new places. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his mother, by maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mildred Bogdon and paternal grandparents, Howard and Grace Stubblebine, all of Plymouth.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, the former Melissa Dopko; daughter, Katie; grandson, Branden; his Labradors, Copper and Molly. He is also survived by sister, Mrs. Alex "Amy" Ratowski, Hunlock Creek, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 a.m. from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth. Interment will be in the Lithuanian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming. Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 5 until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, blood donations can be made to the American Red Cross in Howard's memory.
