WILLIAM C. BURNISKI, 92, Syracuse, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at The Crossings Nursing Home. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he played semi-pro baseball for the Wilkes-Barre Barons before relocating to Syracuse in 1951. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the military police during World War II, and member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Eastwood Post 1276. Preceding him were brothers, John Burns, Boca Raton, Fla.; Edward W. Burniski, Wilkes-Barre; sister Marie Koprowski, Wilkes-Barre. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Genevieve Mayeski; daughter, Carol (Paul) Norris; son, William (Debra) Burniski; sister Anna Burniski; grandchildren, Peter, Tim, Amy; four step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
