Richard E. Kipe, 92, of Mercersburg, died January 17, 2013 at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg. Born May 6, 1920 at Waynesboro, he was a son of the late Earl W. and Daisy B. Sprenkle Kipe. As a young man he farmed along with hauling milk. His former places of employment include Mercersburg Tannery, Farmer's Union Elevator of Greencastle, Grove Manufacturing and JLG of McConnellsburg. He was groundskeeper for over 20 years for the Mercersburg Lions Club Park. He bowled in the local bowling leagues and received many trophies and awards. He was a member of Two Top Fellowship Church of Mercersburg. Other memberships include Ft. Loudon Senior Center and Tuscarora Senior Center. He also held the offices of vice president and chaplain in the Fulton County CB Club. His personal interests included camping and fishing at Chincoteague, VA, singing and playing music. Surviving family include his wife, Evelyn Seville Kipe, whom he married Aug. 20, 1949; Daughters, Deborah R. and husband D. Leroy Fagley of Harrisonville, Doreen R. Bowers and companion Steve Shoemaker of Hagerstown, and a son Darryl R. and wife Eugenia Kipe of McConnellsburg; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 6 siblings, Ben Kipe, Janet and husband Blair Wenger, Harry and wife Kathy Kipe, Rev. Elmer and wife Fern Kipe, Rev. Vaughn and wife Judy Kipe, and Daniel and wife Leah Kipe. He was preceded in death by a great grandchild Zakarie Bowers, a son in law, Abraham Bowers, 6 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. January 23rd at Two Top Fellowship Church, Mercersburg, with Pastor Paul Martin officiating. Burial will be at Welsh Run Brethren Church Cemetery. Viewing 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Lininger-fries.com
