Helen Brindle Obituary

Helen Pauline Brindle, 83, of St. Thomas, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Quincy United Methodist Home. Born in Chambersburg on March 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Doris Hancock Crist. Mrs. Brindle was a 1947 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She worked in factories most of her adult life; from the former Stanley Company to the H.J.Heinz Company until it's closing, and at Corning, where she served for 16 years, retiring in 1990. Mrs. Brindle enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, camping, and fishing. Surviving are two children, Donna R. Straley (husband Ron) of Manheim, and Ronald K. Brindle (wife Anna) of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and four siblings, Peg Elliot, Don Crist, James Crist, and Sallie Schindledecker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Brin" Brindle, Jr. on October 14, 2011 and a daughter in infancy, Barbara Brindle. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, on Monday, December 31, 2012, at 11:30 a.m., where Pastor Marc Stephenson will officiate. There will be no public viewing. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
