Harold Bard, Jr. Harold Bard Jr, 87, of Chambersburg, passed away March 8, 2014 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born March 9, 1926 in Needmore, to Harold and Rhoda (Garland) Bard. He was married to Ruth Failor Bard on August 20, 1949. Harold had worked at Letterkenny Army Depot for almost twenty years and then worked for Washington National Insurance Company as a sales representative for about twenty years and after retiring he worked ten years for F&M Trust in Chambersburg. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Chambersburg. He loved restoring Mustangs and Model A's and working in his garage. He enjoyed golfing prior to his declining health. He enjoyed his family, friends, and his home. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Hornet during World War II serving in the Pacific Theater. He belonged to the Chambersburg Elks Club, Chambersburg VFW Post 1599, Ft. Loudon American Legion and George Washington Masonic Lodge F&M. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth Anna Failor Bard and their two children: Susan Marie (wife of Bob) Weller of Mill Hall, PA and H. Mark Bard of Chambersburg. He has two grandchildren: Austin M. and Jena Renee Bard. He is also survived by a brother, Billie A. Bard of Chambersburg and a daughter-in-law, Jill Bard of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Heverline Dinsmore and two brothers, Boyd and Wayne Bard. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Mark Ruzicka officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family requests the omission of flowers and asks that memorial donations be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 1811 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, PA will be handling the arrangements.
