Samuel L. Shaffer Samuel L. Shaffer, 83, of Shippensburg Mobile Estates died Monday, April 28, 2014 at his home. Born October 18, 1930 in Doyles Mills, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Charles V. and Sarah J. Imes Shaffer. Samuel was of the Presbyterian Faith. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He retired as a truck driver in 1992 from the John F. Walters Trucking Company in Newville. Samuel was a member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post #6168, Shippensburg. Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Twyla D. Peters Shaffer, two sons, Samuel R. Shaffer of South Dakota, Cloyd J. Shaffer of Shippensburg, one daughter, Tina M. Porter of Foley, AL, three step-daughters, Deborah Leonard of Mexico, PA, Shirley J. Strite of Chambersburg and Lucinda K. Plante of Waynesboro, one step-son, Edward R. Smith of Shippensburg, eight grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Henry Shaffer who died in 1968, one daughter Theresa Shaffer, two brothers, four sisters, and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., with Pastor Marlin C. Fleck officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Shippensburg Veterans Council. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
