William D. Hollaway William David "Jim" Hollaway, 94, of Boca Raton, Fla., died Thursday, January 22, 2015. Born May 25, 1920, at Gadsden, Ala., he was a son of the late Richard Homer and Lillie Mae Stripling Hollaway. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the coastal patrol and in North Africa. He was a private yacht captain for 50 years. He was married to Carlotta Bussas Hollaway, who died December 5, 2008. Surviving are a son, James P. and wife Janis Hollaway of Blaine, Wash.; a granddaughter, Erin L. Hollaway-Palmer of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Evelyn Gingrich of Mercersburg; four nieces and three nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Hollaway and Paul Hollaway; and two sisters, Dorothy Hollaway and Clarice LaBrie. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg, with the Rev. Anthony Lorenz officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. There will be no viewing. Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Inc., Mercersburg.
