Weist Sr., Paul
Paul G. Weist, Sr. LURGAN TOWNSHIP Paul Glenn Weist, Sr., called "Pap" by many of his family and friends, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Thursday, February 4, 2016. He was born on May 22, 1933, in Bedford County, the son of William and Bertha (Giffin) Weist. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Weist, Jr. and John Weist; and two sisters, Velma Taylor and Sara Reyan. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Shirley Weist; his children, Glenda Gorham (husband Lee), Paula Hamilton (husband Glenn), and Paul "Bud" Weist, Jr. (friend Cheryl Henicle); his sister, Dorothy Douglas; his grandchildren, Penny Gorham, Ben Gorham, and Tyler Weist; and his great-grandchildren, Ally and Paige Davis, and Blaise Weist. Paul retired from Letterkenny Army Depot. He had a long retirement, and until his health limited his activity, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, reading, vegetable gardening, activities with the Lurgan Township Lions Club, and helping friends and family with building projects. He loved baseball. When he was younger he spent many years coaching Little League teams at the Lions Club Park. He was also a lifelong Baltimore Orioles fan, through the good and the bad seasons. The family will have a private service after his cremation. It was his wish that after his death there would be no flowers or public service. He was a long time member of the Lions Club, and his wish was that any memorial contributions should be made to the Lurgan Township Lions Club, P.O. Box 91, Roxbury, PA 17251.
