Bard, Billy A.  
Billy A. Bard Billie A. Bard, age 87, of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born October 28, 1927, in Licking Creek, PA, he was the son of the late Harold and Rhoda Garland Bard. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Bard served honorably from 1945 to 1948. He was employed as firefighter at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 1968, after 20 years of service. He then went on to own and operate his own business, B&B Camper Sales and mobile home park, from 1964 to 1988 and in land development and home construction. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church of Christ, a life member of the VFW Post 1599, the Ft. Loudon American Legion, Post 606, AMVETS Post 224, the Moose Lodge, and Marine Corps League in Chambersburg. He was also a member of the miniature carousel builders club. Mr. Bard enjoyed working with wood and making furniture, as well as traveling to Ft. Myers, FL to their vacation home. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Betty L. Amsley Bard, whom he married on July 10, 1951; three daughters, Ginger Edmondson (husband G.T.) of Chambersburg, Deborah Bard Smith of Ft. Myers, FL and P. Kim Ocker (husband Galen "Zeke") of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Chad McClure, (wife Mary), Christopher Scott Smith (Tisha), Hollie Smith Schmid (husband Peter), and Joshua Ocker; and three great-grandchildren, Ashley Runyon, Josie Smith, and Addison Smith Schmid. He enjoyed his beloved dog, Penny. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Harold, Boyd, and Wayne Bard and Heverline Dinsmore. Funeral services will be held in his honor on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at 11 AM at the Cornerstone Church of Christ, 1350 Tallow Hill Rd., Chambersburg, where Pastor Jerry Timbrook will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow the service at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, Franklin/ Fulton Unit, 924 North Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403. Brookens, Jack  
Jack Brookens Jack M. Brookens, 82, of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Bryan, Russell E.  
Russell E. Bryan Russell E. Bryan, 86, of Spring Run, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, PA. Born January 3, 1929 in Richmond Furnace, PA, he was a son of the late Jacob Henry Bryan, Sr. and Florence Gilbert Bryan. His beloved wife, Josephine G. Bryan, preceded him in death on April 26, 2015. Russell was a graduate of the former Fannett Township High School. He worked most of his career as a mechanic at Letterkenny Army Depot until his retirement in 1984 after 35 years of service. Russell enjoyed hunting and going to sprint car races at Williams Grove and Port Royal. He is survived by two children, Larry Bryan (Beatrice) of Spring Run, PA and Linda Taylor (fiance Robert Hammond) of Spring Run, PA; four grandchildren, Shelly McMullen (Chris) of Fannettsburg, PA, Angela Taylor of South Carolina, Tony Taylor (Carrie) of Needmore, PA, and Ricky Taylor (Erica) of Nossville, PA; four great-grandchildren, Kyli, Anastasia, and Alijah Simmons and Grant McMullen; and a sister, Grace Bryan MacInnes of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents and wife, Russell is preceded in death by and infant sister; a brother, Jacob "Pete" Bryan; four half-brothers, Norman, Frank, Charles, and Lester Bryan; and a half-sister. Services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 128, Spring Run, PA 17262. Helen M. Burkholder Helen M. Burkholder, 96, of Shippensburg, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015. She was born February 19, 1919, in New Franklin, child of the late Scott and Anna (Fortney) Carbaugh. Surviving are two sons, H. Eugene Burkholder and David A. Burkholder; 11 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; a sister; and two brothers.
