Betty L. Hardsock

Mrs. Betty L. (Bumbaugh) Hardsock, 79, of 2813 Railroad St., Chambersburg, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 in Quincy Village, Quincy. She had been critically ill for the past two weeks. Born July 7, 1933 in Pond Bank, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Emma (Rhone) Bumbaugh. She and her husband, the late Henry M. Hardsock were married on February 3, 1951 in Hagerstown, Md. They moved to the present residence in 1954. Mr. Hardsock passed away December 3, 2011. Mrs. Hardsock was a homemaker. She was a member of Pond Bank Independent Church where she taught Sunday school for 46 years. Mrs. Hardsock enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, quilting, and doing crafts. She is survived by four children, Wanda S. Hoover; Cindy M. Baker and her husband, Charles, Michael E. Hardsock and his wife Amy and Kevin L. Hardsock, all of Pond Bank; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Rodney Bumbaugh; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Martha Black, Jean Stevens, Hazel Rock and Janet Gilbert; and one brother, Robert Bumbaugh. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in Pond Bank Independent Church, 6704 White Rock Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Dr. Mervil R. Stambaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
