I'm not sure if their is a connection but my research led me here. My interest in Mr. Marks is his ancestor Bernhard Marks who founded my town of Dos Palos. But in his own right he has left a legacy of honor and courage. I am a history teacher at Dos Palos High School, writing a book about the history of Dos Palos for Arcadia Publishing and came across this wonderful story looking for pictures on your family, but I would've loved to talked with your father he sounded amazing.

My sympathy to those Martin leaves behind. Heaven welcomed another GREAT man, and the angels are singing with rejoicing!!!
I became accquainted with Martin in the eighties when he servied on the Fortuna Planning Commission and I was on the City Council. In later years he often visited me at my junke shop Osburn's Oddities. May God comfort you in your grief, sustain you in your loss, grand you wisdom as you go forward, give you peace in the turmoil of this world, and give you Joy in your memories. The JOY of the Lord IS our strength so muscle up and proceed without this truly GREAT Man.

Martin and I worked together in the The Pacific Lumber Companies Main Office for many years and elsewhere throughout the Companies facilities at Scotia. He was always a pretty jovial guy and pretty well got along with everyone that he came in contact with. With his different jobs that he was assigned to, sometimes, this would put him at odds with some of the other employees, but, eventually, things would work out and everyone would be friends and fellow co-workers as they should be. He and I were fairly close as I was one of the Rescue Squad members of the Company and Martin had become the Director of Accident Prevention, so, that put us in close working situations. He was a great guy to work with and be around. To his family, I send my most sincere condolences to you for your loss. RIP Martin, you will be missed by all who truly knew you.

Martin was a good friend from the moment we moved into his neighborhood in Scotia. We have many tender memories--backyard picnics, hunting together at Rainbow, his and Florence's visits here in Pocatello, and our last visit with him and Rita in their home while he watched a baseball game last June. We will miss him.
