James Wells Kyler, 92, formerly of 31 Sanders Circle, Chambersburg, passed away March 12, 2013 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born February 7, 1921 in Chambersburg, to Frank and Grace (Wells) Kyler. He was the husband of Zelma Reed Kyler, who currently resides in Menno Haven. James was retired from A & P Stores where he had been the assistant manager. He had been a member of St. James United Brethren Church. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II
and had been a member of most of the military service clubs in Chambersburg and St. Thomas. He was a supply NCO (TSGT) with an Aviation Ordinance Maint. Co, serving in North Africa, Italy, India and Burma. He is survived by his wife, Zelma Reed Kyler and their four children, Judy (wife of Jack) Hockenberry of Roxbury, James (husband of Bonnie) Kyler Jr. of Chambersburg, Tina (wife of Mike) Wagner of Chambersburg, and Barbara (wife of Jeff) Royer of Chambersburg. Jim has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 15th at 1 p.m. at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 till 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Julie Rawlings for the care of Jim's great-granddaughters health care.
