Jean M. Mellott

Jean M. Mellott Jean Marcelle Mellott, 92, passed away February 22, 2014, at the York Hospital with family by her side. She was born April 24, 1921, in McConnellsburg, the daughter of the late George P. and Laura Morton. Jean married her husband, the late Harry W. Mellott, Sr. on June 11, 1942. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2010. Jean is survived by five daughters, Patricia Ann Carbaugh (Larry) of McConnellsburg, JoAnne Onorato (Richard) of Fayetteville, Carol Geist (Franklyn, Jr.) of York Springs, Barbara Ann McDonald (Wayne) of McConnellsburg, and Joyce Peck of McConnellsburg; and one son, H. Wesley Mellott, Jr. of McConnellsburg; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Mellott; her parents; and five siblings, George F. Morton, Elizabeth Allison, Polly Shimer, Nella Martz and Doris Hawbaker. She spent her lifetime and many talents as a devoted farmer's wife and a wonderful mother, caring for her children with deep love and devotion. She lived her life with dignity and she died with dignity. She was a member of the Cito United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held Thursday evening, February 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cito United Methodist Church with Pastor John Godissart officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment at Union Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N.
