Paul David Koontz

Paul David Koontz, 90, of Williamsport, Md., passed away, Thursday, November 1, 2012, at Homewood at Williamsport. Born Sunday, March 19, 1922 in Cosytown, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence H. (Teddy) Koontz and the late Cornelia (Nealy) Hykes Koontz. He attended White Pine School in Cosytown. He retired from Jamison Door Company. Paul was a founding member of Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, where he served for many years as Deacon, Deacon Emeritus and a choir member. He served his country honorably during World War II in both Africa and Italy. He is known for his talented woodworking skills. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Mae F. (Kendall) Koontz; daughter, Bonnie M. (Koontz) Gordon, widow of Dale L. Gordon; sons, Ronald D. Koontz and wife, Nancy L. Rudolph, P. Dennis Koontz and wife, F. Jean Meyers; brothers, Robert Koontz and Johnny C. Koontz and wife, Anna Jean; grandchildren, Michael D. Koontz, Steven L. Koontz, Bryan S. Koontz, Donnie L. Gordon, Trudy K. (Gordon) Mesaros, Jodi R. (Gordon) Clark, Hannah E. (Koontz) Richards; 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Helen Koontz Barnhart and husband, Paul; brother, James Koontz and wife, Gladys; sister-in-law, Marjorie Koontz and brother-in-law, Merle T. (Whitey) Kendall and wife, Marion. Services will be held Monday, November 5, 2012, at 10 a.m., at the Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, 17904 Binkley Ave., Maugansville, Md., with Pastors Richard Heckman and Sean Coffey officiating. Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 1 to 3 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Broadfording Church Cemetery, Hagerstown, Md. Memorial donations may be made to Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, 17904 Binkley Ave., Maugansville, MD 21767.
