Ronald L. Kanner

Ronald L. "Ronnie" Kanner, 72, of Chambersburg, died unexpectedly Sunday April 28, 2013 in Broward General Medical Center, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Born November 16, 1940 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late William L. and Ruby Ingram Kanner. Ron was a 1959 graduate of C.H.S. and attended Shippensburg College in business. A veteran of the US Army, he was a member of the Exchange Club, BPOE #600 and the Chambersburg Club. He owned and operated the former Phillips 66 Station on LWE, Kanner's Sports Cars, and was employed by Ryder Trucks for three years. He was owner/operator of RLK Inc. with rental properties in Chambersburg, Eydie and Bobby's Furniture and Antiques and was a partner in the 401 Pub S. Main St. In addition to enjoying football, being an avid reader and spending his winters in Florida, Ron loved Chambersburg, the town and the community and derived great pleasure in walking around the west end talking to people. Surviving are his wife Edith "Eydie" Carty Kanner; two sons, Randy (Debra) Kanner, Apollo, PA, John B. Kanner, Chambersburg; one daughter, Tina (Mrs. Ed) McKnight, Torrence, CA; grandchildren Ryan and Regan Kanner, Ashley, Kristen, and Ben Kanner, and Heather Beyries; step-children, Bobby Jo (Mrs. Michael) Stine, Chambersburg, Cheryl Lynn (Mrs. Gary) Greenwald, Hagerstown; step-grandchildren Emily and Ben Stine, and Erica Greenwald; and two sisters, Linda Wile, Fayetteville, and Charlotte Grillo, Eagle River WI and nieces and nephews. The Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday May 9, 2013 from the William F. Sellers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd.
