Russell W. Meinke

Russell W. Meinke, 77, passed away January 26, 2013, at Providence Place. He was born January 20, 1936, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Mearl F. and Weltha J. (Barnes) Meinke. He grew up in Conneaut, Painesville, and Fairport, Ohio. He was a graduate of Conneaut Sr. High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958. It was there he developed a love of photography while attending the Naval Photo School in Pensacola, FL. This led to his employment with the Central Intelligence Agency in Langley, VA, where he worked as a Camera Section Supervisor. In 1967 he got his "dream" job at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY in the Photography Lab. He retired from Kodak in 1992. Russ was a member of First United Methodist Church of Chambersburg. He enjoyed traveling, riding his kayak on the C&O Canal, playing cards and spending time with friends he met while living in Ft. Myers, FL. Russ is survived by his wife Dorothy (Dot) Meinke Chambersburg; his three daughters, Carrie of Bedford, VA., Diane, of Albuquerque, NM and Pamela, of St. Louis, MO; a granddaughter, Kathleen; grandsons, Andrew, Jeffrey and Kyle, two great-grandchildren; and step-daughters Deborah of Cody, WY, and Kathy of Laramie, WY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Madeline, in 1991. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home. A viewing will be held form 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Thursday. Pastor Dick Williams will be officiating. Interment will be held at Grove Place Cemetery in Chili, New York on Saturday Feb. 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church 225 South Second Street Chambersburg, PA 17201. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, will be handling the arrangements.
