Matthew William Mitchell, 17, passed from this life on Saturday, December 31, 2016.
Born November 1, 1999, he was the son of William E. Mitchell and Kathleen A. Konchalski, both of Greencastle.
He was a junior at Greencastle Antrim High School, and had recently been hired at Sunny Way Diner, and after two weeks, had received a promotion. He was a boy with a charm and charisma that made it easy to love him! He had a twinkle in his eye when he smiled, and a twinkle that also let you know he was up to something. He had a great sense of humor and a contagious energy that will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He loved all the things that most kids his age enjoy; video games and watching zombie's on television. He also enjoyed lifting weights, and had a soft heart for animals. He also loved fishing and had quite a knack for it, usually reeling in more than his dad, and was quickly taking over his father's "Fish Master" title. The memories he created will be cherished by his family and friends for the rest of their lives.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by and will be greatly missed by his siblings, Anthony Dion, Greencastle; Kelly DeRigo, Jacksonville, Fla.; Hannah Mitchell, Greencastle, Trinity Mitchell, Greencastle and Michael Mitchell, Greencastle; his maternal grandma, Jeanne Witte, Greencastle; his paternal grandparents, Joan and Barry Mitchell, Uniontown; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joseph Konchalski; his step-grandfather, Paul Witte; and great-grandmother, Nellie Lint.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St. Greencastle, with Pastor Josh Lance officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. The color orange was Matthew's favorite color and the family would be honored if you incorporated that color into your attire if you are attending.
