Mr. Charles Ransom Greenwalt, Jr., 63, of 14508 High Rock Road, Cascade, Md., passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012, in his home. His death was unexpected and attributed to natural causes. Born February 27, 1949, in Sandy Hook, Md., he was the son of the late Charles R. Greenwalt, Sr. and Juanita L. (Kinnamont) Greenwalt. Mr. Greenwalt was a graduate of Smithsburg High School with the class of 1967. He served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He later served in Saudi Arabia from November 1990 thru March 1991 where he was responsible for painting military vehicles the color of sand. He and his wife of 27 years, Mrs. Connie L. (Morgan) Greenwalt, were married December 22, 1986. They had lived at their present residence since April 1990. Mr. Greenwalt was currently employed as a supervisor at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA for 32 years. He also owned and operated a lawn care business. He enjoyed time spent outdoors, especially in the mountains. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Carla T. Dooley of Eastaboga, AL and Charles R. Greenwalt, III of White Plains, AL; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Susan Oakes of Cascade and Donna Whalen of Runnemede, NJ; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard F. Greenwalt. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
