Clyde E. Skipper Obituary
Mr. Clyde E. "Skip" Skipper, 73, of Waynesboro, died at 6:10 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013 in Menno Haven Retirement Community, Chambersburg. He had been in failing health since October. He and his wife of over 46 years, Susan F. (Jones) Skipper, were married on August 13, 1966. Born March 15, 1939, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Clyde M. and F. Kathleen (Wishard) Skipper. He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area. Skip graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1957. He later served with the United States Army from 1959-1961. In his early life, Skip worked at the A&P Store in Waynesboro and Mitchell's Machine Shop in Greencastle. He later worked for Amp, Inc., Waynesboro until his retirement in March 2001. He attended services at the Wayne Heights Brethren Church and was a member of Acacia Lodge #586 F.&A.M., Waynesboro, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg, Eagles Club, Inc., Waynesboro, Moose Lodge #1191, Waynesboro, and the Rouzerville Fish and Game. He was a life member of Mechanics S.F.E. & Hose Co. #1, Waynesboro. Skip enjoyed camping, working in his workshop, country music, and working outside, especially riding his cub cadet. He was the last of his immediate family. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Dr. Harold W. Walton officiating. Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Rouzerville, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, in the funeral home. A masonic funeral will be held by the members of Acacia Lodge #586 F. & A.M. at 7:30 P.M.
