David R. Lehman, 81, of Brethren Village of Lancaster, died January 4, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer, while under the care of Hospice and Community Care. He was the husband of the late Mary L. (Horst) Lehman, who died in 2009. Dave served his country and honored his faith in 1-W service at the Norristown State Hospital during WWII. He began his career with Unadilla Silo Company and continued his career in sales with Lancaster Level Flo, Dutchland Inc., and Kingsway Realty. In retirement, Dave enjoyed escort driving for High Steel Structures. Dave was a member of Grace Point Church of Paradise (formerly Paradise Mennonite Church), where he was a member of the Cheer Lenders Sunday School class. Dave enjoyed music, including singing and playing guitar. He loved to golf and enjoyed playing with many friends. Dave had a passion for poetry and he memorized and recited hundreds of narrative poems throughout the years. Born in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Reuben H. and Katie B. (Lehman) Lehman. Dave is survived by three daughter: Donna L. married to David Reppert of Leesport, Doris A. married to David Kyle of Wellsboro and Diane K. married to William K. Poole of Lancaster;seven grandchildren: Katie (Gerhart) married to Joshua Crowl, Emily (Gerhart) married to Brian Neville, David Gerhart, Madalyn Kyle, Sara (Poole) married to Weston Shertzer, Mary Poole and Caroline Poole; two great-grandsons: LucasCrowl and David Neville; and four siblings: Helen (Lehman) married to Harvey Martin, Verne I. Lehman married to Jane, Adin L. Lehman and Frances Neil married to James Arrowood. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Elizabeth M. (Lehman) Yeager and Preston E. Lehman. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. and a funeral on Tuesday, January 8 at 11 a.m., both at Grace Point Church of Paradise, 8 South Singer Avenue, Paradise, PA. There will be NO VIEWING on Tuesday. A private interment will be held at Paradise Mennonite Cemetery.
