Harold L. Overcash, 81, of Mercersburg, died Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the VA Medical Center, Washington, D.C. Born November 1, 1931, at Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Arthur L. and Anna C. Poe Overcash. He was a union pipe fitter/welder working in various states around the country. He retired due to disability in 1981. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Harold was a member of American Legion Post #517 of Mercersburg, Sidling Hill Sportsman's Assoc., and FOE of Harrisonville. He was an avid trapper for 60 years. Harold enjoyed music and played and sang on a radio station in Martinsburg, W.Va., in the 1950's. Surviving are two daughters, Vikki J. Eckstine of Myersville, Md., and Carla D. and husband Jacob Strait of Mercersburg; two sons, Harold E. Overcash of Waynesboro and Darren L. Overcash of Clear Spring; a brother, Robert G. "Sam" and Judy Overcash of St. Thomas. 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Edna L. Bowers Overcash who died August 13, 1988, a son, Dennis W. Overcash, siblings Richard B. Overcash, C. Russell Overcash, and Clarence A. Overcash, Sr., his special companion, Beulah Wibel and a special nephew, Charles E. Keefer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. January 31st at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg, with Pastor Paul A. Martin officiating. Burial will be at Welsh Run Church Cemetery, Mercersburg.
