Jeanette L. Burkett, 38, of Newburg, died on the morning of Monday, October 29, 2012, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. She was born on October 1, 1974, in Carlisle, a daughter of James E. and M. Jane McCorkel Cohick. Jeanette was a 1993 graduate of Chambersburg High School and a 2007 graduate of the Penn State University Nursing Program. She married Mr. Kenneth W. Burkett on August 16, 1997 at the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church. Jeanette was employed as a Registered Nurse; most recently at the Clairmont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, previously at Menno Haven, Chambers-burg, and also part-time at Shippensburg University. She was a member of the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church. Jeanette loved life, her two girls, and the beach. Jeanette is survived by her husband Kenneth W. Burkett; her two daughters, Mackenzee Mary-Kathleen Burkett and Allison Bailey Burkett; her parents, Jim and Jane Cohick of Newburg; one brother, James (Kristal) Cohick of Newburg; one sister, Jenny (Lee) Shoap of Shippensburg; maternal grandmother, Doris McCorkel of Carlisle; paternal grandfather, John E. Cohick of Carlisle; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Lloyd McCorkel and paternal grandmother, Kathleen Wentz. Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. David Halteman will officiate.
