Joseph H. Kershner, 62 of Green Briar Rd. York, died unexpectedly Sunday December 2, 2012, in his home. Born January 20, 1950, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late J. Harold and Olive M. (Mellott) Kershner. He had been a fertilizer salesman and last worked as a machine operator at a York area Quarry. Joseph was a 1967 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School and was a graduate of the Delaware Valley College. He was a member of the Metropolitan Community Church of The Spirit in Harrisburg, PA where he sang on the church choir, served on the Trustee Board and was one of the longest serving members of the church. In his earlier years, he attended the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle. Joe enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, riding his motorcycle, enjoyed music and was loyal to his family and friends. Surviving family are numerous cousins, several aunts and uncles and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Carolyn Ruth Kershner in 1948. Funeral services will be held on Sunday December 9 at 2 p.m. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 North Washington St. Greencastle, with Rev. Lori E. Rivera and Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. and one hour before the service on Sunday at the church. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Metropolitan Community Church Of The Spirit, 2973 Jefferson St. Harrisburg, PA 17110; or to the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 N.
