Leo Murphy Jr., 80, of Chambersburg, passed away June 24, 2013, at home. He was born March 13, 1933, in Shade Gap, to Leo and Dorothy (Locke) Murphy Sr. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and being in the outdoors. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and remaining in the Army Reserves for twenty-two years. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot after thirty-seven and a half years, working as a systems analyst in DESCOM. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Myers Murphy and their two children: Craig Murphy of Enola and Candace Murphy of Chambersburg. Leo is also survived by three sisters, Delores Miller of Chambersburg, Ruth Clugston of Chambersburg, Deb Yowler of Chambersburg and one brother, Donald Murphy of Cumberland, Md. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, with Revs Leroy Eberly and Chuck Naylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Air Hill Brethren In Christ Church, 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg, PA, 17201; or to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA. 17201. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA will be handling the arrangements.
