Marita Logan Shaffer, 18, of Greencastle, passed away June 5, 2013, at York Hospital, from injuries sustained as a result of a June 1st auto accident. Born November 21, 1994, at Hershey, she was a daughter of Roger M., Sr. and Margaret J. Rakowski Shaffer of Greencastle. Marita was a member of the 2013 graduating class of Greencastle-Antrim High School. A hard worker, she was currently employed at the Mercersburg Inn. Over the years, she was a Brownie, enjoyed fishing, bowling, cheerleading, softball, track, camping, was passionate about art, and she loved life. Marita had hoped to attend Penn State, her favorite color was orange, she was born to shop, and was a loving and giving person, who at the end gave to the Gift of Life. Marita was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church of Greencastle, where she was a former member of the Council of Catholic Women and Prayer Shawl Group. Also a member of American Legion #373 Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents surviving family include her twin brother, Roger M. Shaffer, Jr.; a sister, Angela and husband Mark Danko of Chambersburg; paternal grandmother, Michele Shaffer; maternal grandparents, Francis and Sonia Rakowski and Myretta and David Anderson; God parents, Dr. Daniel and Patricia Kowaleski; also surviving are a niece and a nephew; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 385 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle, with Father Joseph L. Stahura officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. There will be no viewing of Marita, a visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Inc., Mercersburg. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
