Obituary Condolences

Rev. Perry D. Rose, 86, Chambersburg, and formerly from Bedford County, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at his home. He was born on March 7, 1927 to the late Norman J. Rose and Fannie M. Hite Rose in Centerville, PA. Perry was a World War II Veteran who served in the Marine Corps from 1943 until 1946. Perry worked for twenty years at the Kennametal plant in Bedford, PA. Perry was a retired minister of the Church of God, headquarters in Cleveland, TN. In 1972 he pioneered the Chambersburg Church of God, Warm Spring Road, now known as The New Life Worship Center. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, preaching the Word of God, golfing and working in his wood shop. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dempsey Rose and Glen Rose. He is survived by his wife Erma Frazier Rose, whom he married on September 10, 1946, two sisters, Melby Veach, Cincinnati, OH and Vera Nuzum (husband Howard) St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by his seven children, Linda Baker (husband Robert), Boswell, PA, Joyce Moorhead (husband Dave), Bedford, PA, Beverly Covert (husband Chester), Greencastle, PA, Nancy Drake, Chambersburg, PA, Perry Jr (wife Susan), Jacksonville, FL, Fredrick (wife Kimberly), Imler, PA and Norman (wife Faith), Buffalo Mills, PA. He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and seven great, great grand children. A Memorial Service will be held at New Life Worship Center at 225 Sollenberger Road, Chambersburg, at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013. Rev. Jonathan Laye and Rev. Frank Menhart will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
