Richard J. Schnoor, 82, a guest at Providence Place and formerly of Geyer Drive in Chambersburg, died unexpectedly Monday morning, October 8, 2012, in Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 28, 1930 in Menasha, WI, he was a son of the late Walter and Ruth Meyer Schnoor. He retired from the former James River Company in Chambersburg after thirty-eight years of service. Richard was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the BPO Elks Lodge #600, VFW Post 1599, AMVETS Post 224, and Moose Lodge #842, all in Chambersburg. He was an avid bowler, golfer, and a diehard Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed spending time attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Joan Humski Schnoor, whom he married May 16, 1953; five children, Diane Gluck and husband W. Larry of Greenville, S.C., Daniel Schnoor and wife Teresa of Greencastle, Mary Zeger of Nashua, N.H., Janet Appleby and husband Terry of St. Thomas, and William Schnoor and wife Jodi of Middletown; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, James Schnoor of Marinette, Wis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Olszewski. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James R. O'Brien at Noon on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Interment will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will receive friend from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
