Ronald E. Mackey, age 62, of 12455 Cold Spring Road, Waynesboro, passed away at 10:46 A.M. in the peace and love of his home on Monday, October 1, 2012. He was born January 30, 1950 in Chambersburg, the son of Amos and Edna (Rife) Mackey. He was preceded in death by his father. Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Patricia G. (Kolsun) Mackey, married April 19, 1980, and son, Timothy, daughter-in-law, Audra and granddaughter, Rowan of Fayetteville; mother, Edna Mackey of Waynesboro; two sisters, Doris Stoner, wife of Ronald Stoner, of Waynesboro and Joann Lockbaum, wife of Richard Lockbaum, of Waynesboro and seven nephews. He was employed with Sprint (formerly United Telephone of Pennsylvania) from 1972 until retirement in 2003. Ronald graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School in 1967 and served in the Air Force from 1968 - 1972. His most fulfilling role in life was being a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who often assisted with scouting, little league, and 4-H. Ronald enjoyed his family and friends, the outdoors, old farm tractors, horses and anything that could be planted. (So he was an old farmer and a frustrated cowboy). Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 5, 2012 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, with Pastor Dana Statler officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, October 4, 2012 in the funeral home.
