Hilda R. Smith Hilda R. Smith, 82, of Ft. Loudon, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 11, 1932, at Artemas, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Elbin Shipley. Hilda was a homemaker and had also provided child care from her home. She was known as an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. She was a member of Ft. Loudon United Methodist Church, VFW #6241 Ladies Auxiliary, and Ft. Loudon Tea Ladies. Her husband, Wayne A. Smith, Sr., whom she married February 24, 1951, died August 22, 2005. Surviving family include her children, Carol S. and husband Richard Martin, Mary S. and husband Richard Kauffman, and Wayne A., Jr. and wife Kim Smith, all of Ft. Loudon; a brother, John and wife Dolly Shipley of Cumberland, Md.; five grandchildren, Nicole Sinclair, Matthew Kauffman, Emily Gardner, Zach and Olivia Peck; four great-grandchildren, Kristopher Rogers, Sophie and Kendall Kauffman and Ellie Gardner. In addition to her husband, Hilda was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula S. Peck, who died January 8, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday April 3, 2014 at Ft. Loudon United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Witmer officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Christian Church Cemetery, Inglesmith. Viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Inc., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Ft.
