William K. Barnhart Sr. (1952 - 2014)

William K. Barnhart, Sr. Mr. William K. Barnhart, Sr., 61, of North Main St., Mercersburg, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 in Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, Md., after an extended illness. Born July 23, 1952 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Donald E. and Mary C. (Baer) Barnhart, Sr. He grew up in the Greencastle, and has lived at his present residence for the past year. Employed at Mack Truck, Hagerstown, MD, he retired at the age of 58; prior to that he worked at Swopes Tire Center in Waynesboro, for about 8 years. He was a member of the NRA and attended Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, Maugansville, Md. Mr. Barnhart enjoyed his Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and prior to his illness, he also enjoyed hunting. He was a caring man who loved his family, and especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by a son, William "Billy" Barnhart, Jr. and his wife, Cristina of McConnellsburg; a daughter, Dicey L. Higgins, and her husband, Sam of Mercersburg; four grandchildren: Haley and Jeb Barnhart, Texas and Chauncey and Riley Higgins, Mercersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald E. Barnhart, Jr. and a sister, Barbara A. (Barnhart) Hudson, who were both from Greencastle. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, 17904 Binkley Ave. Maugansville, Md., officiated by Pastor Sean Coffey and Pastor Mike Carey. Burial will follow in Macedonia United Brethren Church Cemetery, Antrim Township. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S.
