Guy L. Munson Mr. Guy L. Munson, 87, of Mercersburg, died at 6:20 PM Thursday May 1, 2014 at The Shook Home, Chambersburg. Guy was born February 15, 1927 at Hagerstown, MD. As a young man he was employed at the former Fry Coal & Stone Company of Mercersburg and for 10 years on a part time basis at the former Cunningham Lawn & Garden Shop also of Mercersburg. Guy retired from Ft. Ritchie, Maryland following over 30 years of service. He served in US Army for 3 years with the Corp of Engineers during World War II and was stationed in Japan. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mercersburg. Also a member of George Washington Lodge #143 F & AM, Chambersburg, for over 50 years. His wife, Rebecca C. Evans Munson, passed away August 24, 2000. Surviving family include two sons, Timothy R. and wife LuAnn Munson of Mercersburg and David G. and wife Marsha Munson of Chambersburg. Three grandchildren, Jonathan and Patrick Munson and Laura Munson Cover. Three great grandchildren, Drew Cover and Conner and Owen Munson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday May 5, 2014 at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg with Pastor Harold E. Yeager officiating. Burial with military graveside services by Charles Nitterhouse VFW #1599 of Chambersburg will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
