Milton Hartman Milton Hartman, 88, of Mercersburg, passed away May 14, 2014 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 9, 1925 at Ft. Loudon, PA he was a son of the late Joseph M. and Nellie R. Holden Hartman. Milton was a truck driver for 32 years, having driven for Eastern Express and later for Ryderson Steel both of Philadelphia, PA. Following his retirement from trucking in 1983, he worked for E. C. Barnes & Sons and later at Mt. Parnell Fisheries. He was a member of Ft. Loudon United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #606 of Ft. Loudon, and a life member of VFW Post #6241 of Mercersburg. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving family include his wife, M. Lucille Hopkins Hartman, whom he married December 24, 1947. Two sons, Joseph M. & wife Judy Hartman of Mercersburg and John H.& wife Cynthia Hartman of Chambersburg. Three grandchildren, Kristina Stine and Shawn and Jason Hartman, and three great grandchildren, Samuel Stine, and Christian and Brianna Hartman. Also surviving is a sister, Sarah Jane Welker of Chambersburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, John H. Hartman. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday May 20th at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery, Lemasters, PA. There will be no viewing; however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests the omission of flowers.
