Dana S. Yocum Dana S. Yocum, 96, of Newburg, died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at his daughter's home. He was born December 30, 1917, in Newburg, Franklin County. Dana was a son of the late Ervin and Elizabeth Shoop Yocum. He was a member of Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg. Dana retired from the Physical Plant at Shippensburg University and owned and operated Yocum's Trucking. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. Dana was a Charter Member and one of the Founding Members of the Newburg Hopewell Volunteer Fire Company and past President of the Cumberland County Volunteer Fireman's Association. He was a member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post #6168 and the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223. Dana was well known in the area for playing fiddle with the Country Tradition and Three Square Hollow Ridge Runner Bands. Dana was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha V. Chamberlin Yocum, who died January 11, 2009; A brother, Russell Yocum; and a sister, Frances Eberly are also deceased. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Rhea (David) Hartman; two granddaughters, Shawna R. (Greg) McMullen and Jennifer E. (Rodney) Kelso; four great-grandchildren, Lindsay R. Schoenfelder, Zachary D. McMullen, Alyssa R. Kelso, and Austin D. Kelso; and a great-great-grandson, Gavin L. Schoenfelder, all of Newburg. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23, 2014 in the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Kimberley Wadlington. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg Veterans Council will be in Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 135 Middle Spring Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
